Fables of Faubus

Heres a piece I did for my music appreciation class about the song Fables of Faubus by Charles Mingus. I spray painted the background and then went over with pen and ink and acrylic. The big head is Faubus. The song is protesting his decision to send out the national guard to prevent a little rock high school from desegregating in 1957.

Manchester Music Mill Comp

My next illustration project is an occupational portrait. I chose to do the owner of the Manchester Music Mill, mainly because I really felt like painting a bunch of guitars. Heres a digital color comp I did to get an idea for the finish which will be painted in oil 16x20. The portrait isnt exact on this comp either.

Only Blood Will Tell

I designed the album artwork for the Manchester, NH based Hardcore/Metal band Only Blood Will Tell. They just redid their myspace to feature the art so take a stop by and check it out.

Hungry Apple Study # 2

Heres another comp for my upcoming digital illustration project. Here I just refined the diner scene a little more and decided on a more closeup viewpoint.

Hungry Apple Study

For my digital Illustration class we have to do an illustration of an apple with one descriptive word that it has to relate to. Mine was Hungry. This was one of the comps I came up with. I was just playing around with basic shapes and the layout, but I thought it had enough merit to be a post.

New Logo

I'm applying for an internship at an ad agency and I wanted to create a business card and a new logo to add to the whole presentation. Heres the new logo.

Seperation Minumental

I decided to take the minumental I posted and digitize it. With the added color it really helps give the effect of the cold hands of death reaching down to sever ties. Look for it in the show!

Greetings from Belfast, Maine

So this is an old image, but it might be getting more attention in the near future. I originally created this for a show 'Postcards from the Edge' at the Ello gallery in Portsmouth, NH last June (the gallery has since closed, they now operate as ello projects). I sold the original drawing and two color prints at the show. I thought that was the end of it, but they were spotted by some people who are interested in possibly making more prints or postcards of it, or using it as inspiration for a postcard competition in Belfast, Maine this summer. The original version did not have Belfast written on it, but since its a scene from the Belfast waterfront we thought it would be a good idea to say so. Nothing has been decided upon yet but look for something exciting to come of this image in the future.
